Walker's transit talks show his true colors.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article by Larry Sandler is titled
"Transit talks appear finished." The regional transit talks, that Scott
Walker initiated, have gone down in flames. The headline should be
"Grover Norquist's puppets defeat transit." Here again we have an
example of the real Scott Walker agenda. He talks about transit, parks
and human services being a priority, but his actions show otherwise.
His dogmatic adherence to narrowly defined revenue source policies show
him to be nothing less than a Grover Norquist puppet. Why else the
schizophrenic maneuver of starting talks on a regional transit system
and then blowing up the negotiations because of the inability to
compromise on funding? It was nothing more than a cynical political
maneuver. The neoconservative siderodromophobic friends of Scott Walker
win again.
It is well know among transit advocates and urban planners that
neoconservative institutes perpetuate transit myths through
ideologically biased studies. More often then not, these studies are
used as a rationalization for perpetuating patterns of development and
transportation that segregate peoples by ethnicity and economic class.
While far from the overt racism of the deep south prior to civil rights
movement, the statistical patterns that result from existing
transportation and land use policies support the view that our region
suffers from a deeply subconscious and systemic form of racism. Like
the supportive spouse of an abusive drunk, Scott Walker and his friends
are enablers of those people who are in denial of our regions most
fundamental problem: systemic racism.
If we had a color blind and gender indifferent society then the
statical difference between the mean income of any self identified
group should be within 3% of the collective society's mean income.
Since there is no scientific bases whatsoever for associating skin
color or the slant of ones eyes with cognitive or physical ability, we
must conclude that the mean anomalies between the "races" in Milwaukee
County is caused by sociological conditions. Most non-sociological
conclusions as to the causality of these statistical anomalies are in
themselves a subconscious form of systemic racism. The act of not
recognizing systemic racism by ethnicity and gender, is of itself, a
subconscious form of systemic racism.
Fear of intermixing people based on subconscious and systemic racism is
manifested in our inability to implement regional transportation
solutions.

Definitions:
Neoconservative: One who perpetuates the values as expressed by Grover
Glenn Norquist, that government should be "reduced to the point that it
can be drowned in a bathtub." In some ways they are like late 19th
century radical anarchist, but using tax cuts in place of bombs. Unlike
19th century Anarchist who supported the replacement of states with
decentralized democracy or communism, Neoconservatives support
the replacement of government with an elitist corporate oligopoly. The
neoconservatives have ideological support, through a network of not for
profit institutes funded by wealthy industrialists many with ties back
to the John Birch Society, and through talk radio entertainers who
propagandize the neoconservative ideology to an unwitting public.
Siderodromophobic: One who has an irrational fear of trains, railroads or train travel.
